Dear friends!

    The main words about ten years' history of Astana will be told in the summer in July when we at the international level shall note Day of city. But today I should leave on this tribune and not tell some words this remarkable day.

The idea of creation of new capital has appeared from first days of independence.

Carries of capital always were a special historical mark in life of any state. I remember, for the first time having arrived in Astana, king of Spain Khuan Carlos told, how king Phillip II not in the best for Spain times carried capital from the rendered habitable capital Toledo in the center of the country - Madrid. It too was done not without hot discussions.

Dear friends!

   This site is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana. The past century is marked by various international events, including the occurrence of the new states and interstate associations on the map of the world.

   But for the Kazakhstani people, the 20th the century became time when great hopes came true and grandiose plans were realized. Kazakhstan has found independence and for the first time in history of the state it has independently defined the whereabouts of its capital city. Starting from 1997, 51 degrees and 10 minutes from the northern breadth and 71 degrees and 30 minutes on the eastern longitude, is not just the heart of Eurasia, it is our capital, Astana.

I can already picture Astana, as a wild flower, springing from the steppes. This new capital will certainly remind the perpetual nomads and pilgrims of this world about the importance of renewal. When a country decides to look forward, towards its dream.

I am already a year in the capital of Kazakhstan. The first impressions are connected with infinite repair work on roads and fuses… But today these troubles are behind, and before us is a majestic Astana in the beauty and the pleasure from it has eclipsed current difficulties. Even during my first brief visit Astana has made the impression of entertaining city upon me, and, first of all that old city on the right bank of Ishim and new city on the left one created a various and very interesting picture. This architectural experimental field possesses the greatest appeal till today.

Traditions of nomadic civilizations are the spiritual support of the Kazakhstan people

The modern world is very different and many-sided. Such it has been made with the globalization, new information technologies, promoting growth of transparency and expanding geographical borders. And even states very much “Closed” or civilizations being detached today test influence on the ways, culture, a policy from outside to some extent. In Kazakhstan, made in one and one in a half centuries jerk from feudal-patrimonial time with a nomadic way of life in a society with market relations and a high degree of urbanization, this influence is especially visible. And though for history 100 years is not a term, but in Kazakhstan have already grown some generations of people hardly representing a way of life of the great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers.

I was captivated by the striking natural beauty of Almaty including the snow capped mountains, lakes, rivers, huge parks full of fountains and flowers. But I was really impressed by the amazing progress and achievements of Astana. The capital of Kazakhstan effectively captures the position of Kazakhstan as a Eurasian country – modern while at the same time preserving its traditional Asian values.

Dear Astanian people! Two capitals from the CIS countries - the youngest one, Astana and another, the most ancient, Tbilisi, are twin cities. The brotherhood of these two main cities of Kazakhstan and Georgia is based on friendship and mutual understanding of the Kazakh and Georgian people. Both republics have passed a hard way from a totalitarian mode up to the independent democratic states.
