But for the Kazakhstani people, the 20th the century became time when great hopes came true and grandiose plans were realized. Kazakhstan has found independence and for the first time in history of the state it has independently defined the whereabouts of its capital city. Starting from 1997, 51 degrees and 10 minutes from the northern latitude and 71 degrees and 30 minutes on the eastern longitude, is not just the heart of Eurasia, it is our capital, Astana
The following 10 years, most certainly, will enter the history books as the most saturated, dynamic and groundbreaking period for the young capital of Kazakhstan. Such grandiose changes in such a short period of time were not seen by any metropolitan on the planet. Every year, month, day, Astana changed its shape, blossomed and grew in front of the eyes of the world. This city became a symbol of Kazakhstan’s independency, triumph of our people and the pride of our country
Astana is the historical project of the first President of Kazakhstan – President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The new capital of Kazakhstan became the center of economic and political transformations, the generation andthe fulfillment of important international initiatives takes place. Astana entered the newest history books of the world as the place where the first The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions took place.
This capital presents surprising architectural projects from world famous architects, including Kishu Kurokawa and Norman Foster. Owing to the concept offered by them, Astana develops in harmony with the environment and astonishes with its modern outlines.
Astana has a great potential and future. The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has set a goal for Astana to become one of the 30 most developed capitals in the world. And today it is already possible to tell, that the economic growth of Kazakhstan has provided a necessary platform for the achievement of this ambitious goal. On the eve of The Capital Day, many new unique locations will be opened in the city; it will hold large international forums, scientific-practical conferences as well as cultural and sports events. Authoritative politicians, diplomats, artists, music performers, journalists and scientists will arrive from different countries of the world to congratulate Astana.
A Decade to Astana is a celebration for all of us. A celebration which will become a large scale event in the life of all Kazakhstan!
