Ashok Sajjanhar, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan
I was captivated by the striking natural beauty of Almaty including the snow capped mountains, lakes, rivers, huge parks full of fountains and flowers. But I was really impressed by the amazing progress and achievements of Astana. The capital of Kazakhstan effectively captures the position of Kazakhstan as a Eurasian country – modern while at the same time preserving its traditional Asian values.
Kazakhstan is a blessed country. It has been endowed with rich natural and mineral resources, with a large territory and with an enviable geographical location providing connectivity between Asia and Europe. It is peaceful. There is harmony and accord amongst its 130 ethnic communities and 46 religious denominations.
This year Kazakhstan celebrates the 10th anniversary of its young capital. I am impressed by the foresight and vision of the Head of your State, his energy and determination in development of Astana as one of the most beautiful and dynamic capitals in Asia. On the eve of its first jubilee on behalf of Indian people I would like to extend my warm and cordial congratulations to President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev and all the friendly people of Kazakhstan.
